FAN2FAN Podcast: Craig Zablo Talking Stallone Interview Part 1

The Fan To Fan (F2F) podcast with hosts Bernie Gonzalez, Peter Charbonneau and Doug Ziegler takes a simple idea and does it well.  Each episode of F2F features a conversation between fans.  The subject could be movies, comics, TV, video games, toys, cartoons, or anything pop culture! Bernie, Peter and Doug pick a fan with a love and/or knowledge of the episode’s topic and then do a deep dive.

Recently, the F2F team spoke with me about Sly Stallone.  When I was approached to be a guest, I explained that there are Stallone fans with greater knowledge and bigger collections than mine.  Still, they were interested in how I became a Stallone fan, the creation of StalloneZone and more.  I was already a fan of  Bernie’s Midnight Mystery, so I checked out F2F and became a fan of it as well.

Talking to Bernie, Pete and Doug was a blast.  It was truly fans hanging out.  Here’s part one of the conversation.  I hope you enjoy it half as much as I did.

Sly Looks Like Weaver

On June 23, 2011, Film School Rejects took a look at “8 Animated Characters That Look Disturbingly Like Their Voice Actors.”  Sly was mentioned for his role in Antz.  Here’s what they had to say…

  • Sylvester Stallone – Antz

Does Sylvester Stallone look like an ant or do ants look like Sylvester Stallone? This is the question that has plagued humanity since late 1998.

Stallone played Weaver, the beefy best friend of Woody Allen’s Z, in Dreamworks Animation’s Antz and they didn’t have to stray to far from the actors hexagonal cranium to make him fit the bill.

Good thing too — most Italian men prefer playing uncles.

Antz Beats Out Classics

On February 13, 2010, TimesOnLine posted their choices for the Top 50 Kids Movies For AdultsAntz made the list coming in at #26 [ahead of The Iron Giant, Finding Nemo, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Bambi, Snow White, Monsters Inc, The Wizard of Oz, The Lion King and many others]!  Here’s what they had to say about Antz:

Antz (1998) With Woody Allen playing a neurotic ant in therapy, and Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone both taking self-deprecating potshots at their big screen selves, plus an intricate post-Marxist interrogation of the wishes of the individual (Allen) versus the need of the common good (the Ant Colony), this is a movie that positively screams, “Children optional!”
