Sly Pic in Flex

The current issue (Aug 2004 ) of FLEXhas this cool picture of Sly and Arnold. It’s on the magazine’s ‘Arnold Page’ with an article written by theGovernor titled “The Adventure Continues.’ No mention of Sylvester Stallone or INSTONEin the article. Just some thoughts about how far the sport of bodybuilding has come since Arnie’s 1st Olympia victory in 1970.

Peace,

Two Stallone Film Rumors

Two really cool film project rumors are floating around today and both involve Sly.

The first film rumor about Sly is that James Cameron has a part for him in Cameron‘s next movie which is starting to gear up. Sly‘s part may just be a cameo but according to what’s being said Brian Cox and Arnold Schwarzenegger will also have roles and the film will be shot in 3D. For full details click HERE or HERE.

The second is a stop motion project [think Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas] called AUTOMATONS. The story involves two killer robots designed by the US during WWII to kill Hitler. When it appears that Hitler has taken his own life the robots are left on the ocean floor… only the robots didn’t “die” and have for the last sixty years been looking for Hitler on the bottom of the ocean.

Wait! It gets crazier because HitlerTojo and Mussolini have been in a Top Secret Cryo-Chamber… and when they are thawed out decide that they were really wrong with “that whole rule the world thing, so Adolphdecides to put on the greatest play version of YOU’RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN…”

So how does Sly fit into all of this you ask? It seems that he will voice MussoliniJack Black and John C Reilly will voice the killer bots, John Cleese provides Hitler‘s voice and there are voice roles for Billy Bob ThortonWilliam H. Macy and Holly Hunter as well. According to Harry at AICN [and who has seen some of the film work], most of the voice work is done!

This is one film too crazy NOT to be true. For full details click HERE.

Jazzman Checks In… With New Sly Art

Ernest “Jazzman” Resendes checked in with two new pieces of art that he created. The first is a cool little toon that he did showing the tough side of Sly. The second piece was inspired by the news that Quentin Tarantino may proceed with his screenplay “Inglorious Bastards” for his next movie. Naturally Jazz would love to see a role for Sly and came up with this character piece.

As always, Jazz, thanks for sharing!

Sly in Entertainment Weekly

The current double issue( April 30, 2004 # 762/763 ) Entertainment Weekly ‘ Summer Movie issue contains a couple of Sly items. Jazz sent in two pics and some excerpts…

THE BOYS WHO BURNED A BILLION DOLLARS, How two wild and crazy guys seduced stars for their fledgling studio, spent oodles of cash, and blew up a lot of stuff. Including their own white-hot careers. By DANIEL FIERMAN

“They promised him the film would shoot for three months, and it ended up [ delaying ] Rocky 3. He was really pissed off. One day, right in the middle of this small town in Canada, Sylvester started ranting and raving and swearing a blue streak, ” says Kotcheff.

Vajna was the one who saw something in the First Blood script, and they both agreed Sylvester Stallone, an actor fresh off Nighthawks, should star.
In 1985, the First Blood sequel turned into a money-spouting geyser: Rambo grossed $ 150 million–and yielded Rambo bedsheets, Rambo action figures, even, frighteningly, a Rambo Saturday morning cartoon.

” Sly was at the pool [ of the Hotel du Cap ] wit all these topless sunbathers surrounding him, and I pitch him the story and he says, ‘ I love it! I’m on board.’ And Mario said, ‘ Good ! Because I already ordered fireworks with the name of the movie on it.’ ” Later that evening, the title of de Souza’s film, Isobar, lit up the night sky.
