Rocky for the Holidays!

Hey SZoners! The holidays are quickly approaching and I wanted to remind everyone that Rocky sculptures are still available through A. Thomas Schomberg studios. These statues were created by Mr. Schomberg [who created the original Rocky sculpture seen in the Rocky movies] in collaboration with Sylvester Stallone and MGM studios. Here’s my interview with Mr. Schomberg. [part two of the interview is here] for the SZ.

Sly Squad Reports In

Here’s an e-mail I wanted to share with all SZoners:

+++++

Hi, Craig.

My name is Edmundo de França, I am a Brazilian fan of Sly and a member of the StalloneZone Forum, under the username of “edmfalcao”.

I talked to you some time ago about my blog Stallone Brasil.

I am sending this message to share with you the experience I had in meeting Sly in Rio de Janeiro, during the shooting of The Expendables.

Before that, I have created, along with another fan, Rennan Rebello, the “Sly Squad Fan Club”, that gathered around 200 people on April 4th, when we present Sly with some gifts such as statues, our official fan club T-shirt and one Brazilian soccer club jersey.

On April 10th, I was gathered with other fans from Sly Squad, waiting for Sly near the hotel where he was staying, in Copacabana. After a long wait, around 10pm, many fans left. Just me and 11 more remained. We were all excited, but afraid that Sly wouldn’t give us much attention, after all, he was filming the entire day and, certanly, would arrive very tired.

The night was cold and, in time, some people even slept on the sidewalk. Even so, we remained hopeful. Some fans even came from other states just to try to have a picture taken with with him. Around 1am we spotted the van where Sly was in and, immediately, ran to the hotel’s entrance to welcome him.

At this time, it was possible to see the expression in Sly’s face, watching us late at night. He seemed very surprised. We immediately noticed his tired looks. Our greatest joy and happines was when he left the van and came to us. It was amazing how nice he was with us late at night. We sorrounded him, took pictures and got autographs. Sly signed them slowly, carefully. It was magnificent to see it because, even tired, he treated us with tenderness.

For me and the other group members, that was an unique and unforgettable day. I was already a fan since I was 6 years old and, after this day, I see that all that really worth it. I have travelled more than 600 miles for this. I have been hungry and cold. But the feeling I had by taking a picture with him, was unique. My greatest joy was to notice how simple and nice he is. His attention to his fans. Sly is worthy of all the success he have. He deserves it!!

Sly Squad Scores!

SZoner, Osmar recently checked in with these photos and report:

Hi Craig,

First I would like to thank you very much for the post about me and my blog.

Second I would like to tell you how was the reunion of the Sly Squad Group.  In the first day, Saturday, we waited the whole day at the hotel and at around 6:30 PM, Sly arrived at the hotel Sofitel at Copacabana, RJSly Squad was there waiting for him … our group was very organized and we started to shout: Rocky, Rocky, Rocky …

He left the car smiling and he raised his arm exactly like he does in the film. It was great.  But at this moment, Copacabana was full of people that heard all that and came to see him.  Then a big mess started with many people pushing … still I could talk to him a bit.  Then, when I said that I came from an Amazonia area, 2.000 away just to see him, Sly said come in…  It was a great moment … It was a GREAT moment! I greeted him and gave him the picture of my fiancee with Stallone´s wax figure in Madame Tussads in London.

I tried to take pics with my camera but I was too nervous and they didn’t work but with the help of my friends from Sly Squad, they sent to me a few pics of me beside him.  Sly was a gentleman with his fans all the time even with the mess.
In the other days, we went to Mangaratiba to watch the filming.  We got many pictures and videos from the set … all them will be available next week on the blog ( http://www.stallone.com.br ).I attached a few pictures:  StalloneandOsmar – Stallone and Me  // StalloneandOsmar2 – Stallone and Me // EdmundoOsmarEdinho – Edmundo (edmrocky.blogspot.com – you made a post from his blog before. He is holding the picture of my fiancee) me // Edinho Maga, the sculptor – you know him) // Slywiththestatue – Edinho gave him the two statues (Rocky and Rambo)  // Sly squad – Part of the fan Club

Stallone 4 Ever

Hi Craig Zablo,
I have been visiting StalloneZone for some time and I would like to congratulate and thank you for the excelent work.
I´m Osmar Daou, a SZoner from Belem, north of Brazil and Stallone´s fan since I was a very little child. I have, also, a small collection of Sly´s Stuff such as toys (from Rambo animated series) from Glasslite wich use to import from Coleco, magazines (some are 20 years old), Dvd´s, Rambo First Blood official Knife, table cloth of my six-year anniversary and others.
Next Saturday, April 4th, I´m gonna travel 3.250 Kms to Rio de Janeiro, to join a group that we call Sly Squad, aiming to see Sly and take a photograph or get an autograph from him and watch, if possible, The Expandable filming. Hopefully we will achieve our goals.
I have, also, a blog called Stallone For Ever! in Portuguese with Sly´s informations, curiosities, pictures, brazilian fans and others … the adress is: http://www.stallone.com.br/ and I´m so glad that many brazilian fans are visiting and participating.
Thanks for your attention,
