Frank Stallone Featured in Best Ever You

Frank Stallone is featured on the cover and a nice interview in the current issue of Best You Ever which you can read online.  Here are a few tidbits…

I was playing music long before Sly was ever an actor. He was my roadie at one time. When Rocky started shooting, he needed a band that would work cheap to be in one of the scenes. My band, Valentine, was playing at some local clubs and we were the only singers Sly knew.  We were making about $140 total, but the movie was going to pay us $140 each!

A lot of people have just given up on me over the years.  But I’ve had to keep believing in my own talent.

I take care of myself, I stay in shape and I’d rather have people be impressed at how old I am as opposed to them thinking I look old for my age.

I am who I am. I’m kind of a loner, I like to play my guitar, bury myself in a good book, hang out at joints with my boys and I say what I want. I don’t like to hide behind “Hollywood.” I like to interact with people on Facebook and Twitter and I forget sometimes that I’m somewhat of a public figure.

Mike Henderson Gets Carter

This week we have Mike Henderson and his take on Sly as Jack CarterMike is a freelance artist who has worked for DC, IDW, Marvel, and Nike to name just a few.  I saw Mike would be a guest at Heroes Con and really liked his art [especially a Conan piece that he drew following Frank Frazetta’s death].

I met Mike at Heroes and set up a commission for the Jack Carter sketch posted today.  My son, [also named] Mike, was with me at Heroes and knew how much I liked the Conan piece.  Heroes was in June.  In October, my son gave me a birthday gift — yep, the Conan piece by Mike Henderson!

You can see more of Mike Henderson’s art at his blog.

Rambo Bridge Sculpt Action for Charity

SZoners, Here’s an important message from Reegs about the Rambo Bridge Sculpture Auction with all proceeds going to charity.  Take it away, Reegs

“Guys as some of you may know, the First Blood Bridge sculpture that I was kindly given by Inge Wilson, Brian McKinney and Riley Forman of Hope BC will be auctioned off on eBay starting midnight Nov 30th and will run through until Christmas Eve!

I have also donated a yellow First Blood Rambo bridge sign and RAM30 baseball cap which were only available at the 30th, to help promote the sale, which is for a very worthy cause, which is for the Fraser Canyon Hospice. All the proceeds will go to Camp Skylark which helps young children come to terms with losing a parent through death.

Here is a promotional video that I compiled and my friend Jerome who is also a fellow zoner edited and made it just so poignant to the cause. I couldn’t have done this without Jerome’s hard work and skills.

So PLEASE bid generously!  Here’s the link to the auction.
