SZoner, Christopher Heathcoat aka SlyGuy recently attended a Frank Stallone concert. From all reports Frank has been killing it since he returned to live performing and Chris’ report confirms it!
Here are the photo’s from Frank Stallone’s terrific 30 year anniversary performance signifying his Golden Globe and Emmy nominated work for the soundtrack to the Saturday Night Fever sequel Staying Alive.
Going in, from previous feedback from yourself and other SZoners, as well as my own past observations of Frank’s career, we were very well aware that he was a multi-talented singer, actor and composer. What I didn’t know (and now, enjoyably am aware of) is just how excitedly versatile Frank Stallone actually is. Frank’s own description of it was Musical Schizophrenic, including his fave, jazz.
The evening was great. Frank performed jazz covers with respectful nod’s to the greats, little stand up historical recollections of his life with his superstar brother, and my personal fave, his pure, point on covers of Hendrix’s FOXY LADY and his deep devotional to country music in Wake Up Call, and though I’m not a huge fan of country music, the lyrics and delivery of that tune, many can relate to.
Just as i heard the rock group RUSH can not leave town without doing Tom Sawyer, certainly Mr. Stallone couldn’t leave that engagement without delivering Far From Over and off came the sport coat thrown to the piano top and that is what he closed the show with.
However, not before a birthday give-a-way to a lovely lady, blessing her with the Frank Stallone street corner singing action figure, as my pictures display. And lastly (but only for that evening as I’d like to enjoy his performances again with family and friends) a meet and greet with myself and my long time friend, Matthew, as Frank signed the record album that I had purchased when the movie came out.
Thank you Frank for the fun filled performance and with such variety. A true showman.
Thanks to Chris for the report and photos! - Craig
