Sly Talks “Rambo V,” New “Rocky” and New “Cobra” Series
Sly Stallone was a guests a the Cannes Film Festival where he talked about Rambo: Last Blood and two potential projects:
Rambo: Last Blood – “We pick it up, he’s out in this storm, a horrible storm. He’s trying to rescue people… He’s still dealing with survivor guilt, b/c he couldn’t save his friends in Vietnam. A result of PTSD. He has a hard time. He has a beautiful ranch, but he lives underground… He has an adopted family there. His father has passed on. The housekeeper who is 70 has a granddaughter. He’s her surrogate father… Bad things happen…There’s going to be some serious vengeance in this movie. A lot of people getting hurt.”
Cobra – “That (conceit) was what if Bruce Springsteen had a gun? That was rock n’ roll meets drama. That should have been another franchise because that character was so cool. And I blew it. My personal life got in the way. But we’re trying to bring it back as a streaming TV series. Bring out the zombie squad. I’m long gone, but the idea is really good…”
Rocky (Not Creed III): “I have a great idea for Rocky. He finds this fella in the country illegally and it becomes a whole thing…”
Sly talks about more in the article but there were two quotes I want to share:
“Failures just make you smarter. Sometimes success makes you dumber.”
“Never stop punching. That’s how I roll. You always have something to prove.”
The one project I wish we’d hear more about is Hunter based on James Byron Huggins best-selling novel written for Sly!

Sly Stallone and “The Tenderloin” Are Coming!
Sly Stallone and his Balboa Productions is teaming with A+E Studios for The Tenderloin, a new television series. Stallone will serve as an executive producer as well as direct several episodes. Stephen Kay, who directed Stallone in Get Carter and whose television credits include Sons of Anarchy and The Shield, will write the pilot and serve as an executive producer.
The Tenderloin follows Charles Becker a turn-of-the-century New York City cop who led the Strong-Arm Squad in keeping order in an area of the city known as the Tenderloin. Think The Shield, except that The Tenderloin is based on real events. Charles Becker was…
…the first and only policeman in U.S. history to be executed for murder.
Sounds like something a lot of us are going to like!
Sly Stallone’s Next Movie & TV Projects

The photo above comes from Sly Stallone’s Official Instagram and is one of a series of photos from the set of Sly’s next film, Rambo V: Last Blood.
Sly has several films in development and is busier than ever. Here’s what’s in the works:
- Hunter: Sly is set to star in the adaptation of James Byron Huggin’s best-selling novel of the same name. This is the film Stallone fans have been hoping for, since the novel’s release as it was written with Sly in mind. The film will be part of Sly’s Balboa Productions.
- Samaritan: is set to star Stallone in the tale of a young boy who learns that a superhero who disappeared years ago may still be alive. MGM and Balboa Productions will team for this one.
Sylvester Stallone and Balboa Productions have also acquired the rights to…
- Ghost: My Thirty Years as an FBI Undercover Agent by Michael McGowan and Ralph Pezzullo for a movie adaptation.
- A untitled film written by retired Army Ranger Max Adams.
- Levon’s Trade by Chuck Dixon for television.
- Second Son based on the bestselling novel by Charles Sailor, also for television.
